Feeling A Little Punky

Punky Scraps is one of favorite challenge blogs. Its a place to be grungy and messy. Lots of fresh inspo (usually 3 times each month), a creative Design Team, and goodies...gotta have goodies, don't ya know.

This month I used Echo Park to play along with two challenges. First up, a sketch...challenge #18. I turned the sketch vertically and used a photo booth strip of me and Rooster Cogburn (my hubs). Using drywall tape as a template, I did a little chalk inking then randomly splattered a little color wash. The alpha stickers were altered with a black marker and one of the journal cards got a doodled border with a paint pen and stickles.

Here's what I used:
Echo Park - Be Mine, Precious Polka Dots & Journal card (flip side)
Playground Simon Says border strip, journal card
Playground element and alpha stickers
Other stuff - KI Softie frame, Maya Road mini pom poms, misc brads, drywall tape, chalk ink, Ranger color wash & Stickles, Deco paint pen and black pen, pop dots

Next up, Challege #19...the inspo...a grid of cassette tapes. This one was fun and I'm happy with the result using some not-so-great photos that got cropped down to 2x2. My bro is showing nephew #1 how to "surf". The wave at the bottom is negative space scallop border. Cool, huh? Its even outlined with blue from the scallop. I added some microbeads for watery texture and fussy cut a border strip of sailboats for dimension.

I don't sew but I love stitching on layouts. Its such a nice detail sometimes. To draw attention to the "fun in the sun" skinny strip at the top I used Bazzill Basics Edgy Border template. It invokes a sunny border. I backed the word stickers with cardstock cut with pinking shears and applied them with pop dots for depth.

Echo Park - Little Boy, pat papers; Buttons (flip), Sailboats (flip)
Little Boy borders, element stickers, alpha stickers (words)
Playground Simon Says border strip & element stickers
Other stuff - misc grosgrain ribbon, cardstock, star chips, Sepia dye ink, Diamond Glaze, microbeads, Bazzill Basics Edgy border template, embroidery floss, pop dots

I feel I'm on a creative roll...its too flippin' hot to go outside in Texas so I'm hoping to show some more stuff...pronto! So come back soon, OK?!

Oh yeah, and by the way...the DALLAS MAVERICKS FINALLY BROUGHT HOME THE TROPHY!!! What a classy team...what a classy owner...Mark Cuban, YOU ROCK!
